A few days ago I had the honour of meeting up with the amazing Keagan Kingsley from Gold Creatures Blog. I wanted to know from her what her journey has been so far when it comes to her blogging and her future plans. Keagan inspires me because she is so real and down to earth. She is driven and motivated to go after her dreams and will stop at nothing to get there.

I got to ask her some questions about how she got to where she is today. I hope it inspires you as much as it has me.

TAYLORED: Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

KEAGAN: I’m a young creative currently living in Cape Town (about to move to Big City Jozi). By day, I work in PR for Adidas South Africa, by night I am the blogger/photographer behind Gold Creatures. I’m into sneakers, fashion, Instagram, finding the perfect cheeseburger and cats.

TAYLORED: What inspired you to start your Blog?

KEAGAN: I studied fashion design and did art at school so I have always been pretty creative. Starting to work in the corporate world was a difficult transition for me to make and I was craving ways to express myself and started to become very frustrated. I had been following a few fashion bloggers on Instagram and was super inspired by them, so I took a Blog class and jumped straight into it.

TAYLORED: How would you describe your own personal style?

KEAGAN: Simple, classic, always wearing sneakers.

TAYLORED: Where do you tend to buy clothes from and why?

KEAGAN: Country Road, Topshop, Zara, Adidas Originals, Cotton On ect. I love the variety from all of these different stores.

TAYLORED: Do you have fashion rules when it comes to putting an outfit together?

KEAGAN: Not really, just that less is probably always more.

TAYLORED: Who inspires you? Doesnt have to be fashion.

KEAGAN: My fiancé mainly, as well as the many young South African creatives who are pushing boundaries in the fashion and photography fields.

TAYLORED: How do you find inspiration for your blog posts?

KEAGAN: I find inspiration from the garments we are shooting – the whole look and feel should be built around the clothing – it is all about what you put in front of the camera.

TAYLORED: How did you get to have so many followers ( on all social Media platforms )

KEAGAN: Haha I don’t even have that many! I am slowly starting to build up a following by investing a lot of time into my different accounts, interacting with many users as possible and always posting solid, quality content.

TAYLORED: B: was it easy?

KEAGAN: No. It takes a lot of time, effort and planning.

TAYLORED: What is your biggest tip for anyone starting a blog or website?

KEAGAN: Decide what your niche is. You have to be different and you have to bring something new to the table. There are so many people in this world all trying to achieve the same thing, what makes you different and why would people want to read your blog? That is the hardest part about starting a blog because it can be quite confusing, but once you have your concept, you have to believe in it and yourself – and run with it!

TAYLORED: What is the biggest challenge about blogging?

KEAGAN: Finding the time to do all of the things I want to do. I have a full-time job so finding time to shoot at edit can be really tricky.

TAYLORED: How many times a week do you post and why?

KEAGAN: I don’t post any specific amount but I would love to get to stage where I am able to post at least three/four times a week, always staying fresh and relevant is the key to blogging.

TAYLORED: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

KEAGAN: I’ll be running my own boutique social media company alongside being a freelance lifestyle photographer, also, married with lots of kittens.

  1. Whats up this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use
WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding know-how so I wanted to get guidance
from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

hi there thank you for your question. I am not sure what other blogger do but I personalyl do not edit with coding. I just got my theme from Light Morango you can click on the link in my footer and then I built my site just from my wordpress customizerand using different plugins.

I am not sure if this helped but I hope that your blogging journey takes off. Always remember it has to be a passion and dont give up when it gets hard. it all pays off in the end.
