Ever been in a situation where life is busy, you have a million things going on at the same time, the weekends are never long enough and the things you need to put time and effort in are getting thrown to the waste side because you are concentrating on everything you need to do. Which means you are not really giving attention to anything fully 100%
I think that is most people right? I mean let’s be real I have had so many convos with people and ask how they are doing and the default answer is, “ yeah good but so busy or good but super tired” or you always get that one person where life is just drama 24/7 and there will always be something wrong. I feel like People these days are just going through the motions of life but not really taking the time to invest in what really matters, like people, friendships, family, your spiritual walk, even your career could be taking a back seat it really all depends on where your priorities lie.
Now please don’t get me wrong, I am by no means writing this post because I have got it down and all my priorities are sorted, in fact, I am writing this because it is just the opposite. As the year draws to a close it is easy to look back at your year and think what did I really achieve or what did I grow in?
There are many areas that I could say that I have grown in and maybe you could say the same but there are many areas where I have failed yet again and it is a constant journey to get my thinking right in a certain area or to react differently to certain situations etc.…. Introspection is a great thing and not a lot of us do it because we are so busy to even think about what we will eat for lunch ( ok not me, I always have time for food ) but you get what I am saying. One Saturday morning I was feeling a little down and I felt to myself that I was just going through the motions not really living with a sense of conviction in certain areas and that inspired me to write a post called Living with conviction. It also allowed me to just be in that moment and realize that when we do not make time for certain things that is when going through the motions becomes easier.
I mean if you never really have to deal with anything, then life seems as though it’s under control and we don’t really want to get to the bottom of things because that requires us to get real and deep about life. Don’t get me wrong I am all about having fun and celebrating the small things in life but there does come a time where you will be sitting on your bed thinking to yourself why have I not changed or why has this situation just gotten worse and that is why introspection is so good because what I realized about myself was that the reason I was not changing in certain areas was because I never bothered to change it, I would always cover up one problem and attend to other things like work tasks, church tasks and and and….. Being busy might seem like you are being productive but when it comes down to it what have you really achieved when it comes to the growth of your character.
Man this is so hard and even just writing this is a challenge because it means that now I need to put the hard work in, and now that you have read this it means you can’t un hear it ( hand over face emoji ) Yes life is tough but SO ARE YOU! Not because you are strong but because God within you is and he has promised us in his word that he will never leave us or forsake us. I don’t usually do this but I think by now many of you know that I love Jesus and my relationship with him is everything to me, so verses in the bible have kept me strong in tough times and I want to share
Deuteronomy 31:6 – 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
So whatever it is you need to face in life God will be with us and if we would just be strong and courageous in him we do not need to be afraid.
Luke 16:10 – 10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
When we are going through the motions in life sometimes it can feel like a waste of time when we are doing things and nobody is giving us a pat on the back. Let’s live to please an audience of one ( Jesus ) and give one hundred percent in the things we have committed to, even if it means nobody notices. God does and that is what matters.
Romans 8:28 – 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.
I love this because God says that no matter what happens in our lives if we love him and live to please him, he works out everything for the good. Every challenge, every mistake, every sin. Not of it is too big for God, in fact, it is in our weakness that God shows us his power and faithfulness in our lives.
