    Inspiration & Purpose

    Decor, Lifestyle

I am moving house and when it comes to deciding how to design your home it can get tricky. There is always that tension of wanting to design the space to your heart’s content versus what do you do with all the things that you already have that maybe do not fit the style that you want to create in your new home. I am currently sitting with that dilemma now and I think that there are a few things that one needs to think of when it comes to designing your home in a practical way because unless you are rolling in the Moola you can’t just chuck all your furniture away. You need to make do with what you have and more importantly use what you have to your advantage.

    Tip number 1

    Be Patient!!

I know it can be hard, believe me I know. I am the same when it comes to this type of thing. when I get a ” new Toy ” I want to play with it all the time , haha and I want all the add-on pieces that come with it, but the reality is that we can not always get all that we want at the same time. The sooner you come to this realization the more fun the whole decorating process will be for you.

    Tip Number 2

Discover what your personal style is. ( these 2 are mine )

There is no point in being able to decorate your home but not knowing what to decorate it with in terms of colour, textures, etc… DO YOUR HOMEWORK and research the different types of styles.

There are a few that I love that I have put below and am using as inspiration in my home.

    SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN

The term Scandinavian design emerged in the 1950s to describe design from the Scandinavian countries Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. It is a design movement characterized by simplicity, minimalism, and functionality.

    MODERN MINIMALIST DESIGN

Minimalism in interior design means spacious rooms with a minimum of furniture and details. The main element of this style is attention to shape, colour, and texture.

    Tip number 3

Start 1 Room at a time:

It will be much easier to focus that way. You will also have such a great feeling of accomplishment when you have finally finished a space. I am starting with my Living space as it is the first thing you see when you walk in.

I will keep you up dated with the progress I am making. Maybe even a few DIY tips and tricks. Let me know if there is anything that you would love to know and I would love to show you the way I best know how to do it.

If you are anything like me you will be reading this post and saying ok great, I love all these pictures but where can I actually shop to find these things to make my house look like that.

I have a few place that I am in love with and am planning on getting my luxuries from.
