I have been blogging for a few years now. It has always been a dream of mine to be a blogger and if you read the title of the post you might be a bit confused. If my dream is to blog then why am I telling you not to?
Let me explain to you why in 3 short steps
1. MONEY – You should not start a blog to make money. If Your main purpose of blogging is to make money then you should just stop right now, It doesn’t work that way. You should blog because you love it and have a passion for writing and being creative as well as inspiring others. I am not saying that it is a bad thing to make money from your blog or website. If it becomes a business in the long run then good on you and well done for sticking it out but if you are only doing it to make money you will sadly be disappointed. Keep the passion alive!
2. POPULARITY – If you think you are going to get internet famous the minute you start your blog then, unfortunately, your social bubble will be burst. It takes a lot of time, energy and networking to get your name and brand out there. Be willing for it to take at least up to a year to get people to know who you are and what it is that you are trying to accomplish through your blog. Post content that you love and content that is original. If it comes from your own experience, people are most likely to listen.
3. TRAFFIC – Let me say this NOT ALL TRAFFIC IS GOOD TRAFFIC! It is one thing to say I have over 10000 readers coming to my site monthly but if most of it is spam or people that do not fall into the niche you are trying to reach then it is pretty much pointless. Rather aim at having less traffic of quality readers and people that genuinely love what your blog brings to them than have good stats on paper that ultimately are fake. Be encouraged that if it takes longer to build, it will last longer but if you suddenly get a spurt of followers overnight your blog could easily fail over night too. DON’T DESPISE THE DAY OF SMALL BEGINNINGS!
